What is Phenotypic Age?

We know that 10-30% of aging is in our genes, while 70-90% is due to our environment and our choices in life. The most important thing is to prioritize physical activity, a good night's sleep and a varied diet. Your Phenotypic Age, which is the same as your calculated biological age, is based on your blood values and put in relation to your chronological age. In studies done to validate this algorithm, the phenotypic age has been set to be 94% accurate. Your biological age reflects a risk of contracting and dying from particular diseases as well as measures of physical function, i.e. your health today.

If your Phenotypic Age is lower than your chronological age, keep up the great work! But don’t just stop here—take this opportunity to consider doing even more to increase the gap between your chronological age and Phenotypic age. Better sleep and diet, more exercise, and certain supplements can make great impact.

If your Phenotypic Age is equal to or higher than your chronological age, you have the opportunity to make improvements to your lifestyle, environment, and/or adherence to longevity protocols. The higher your Phenotypic Age, the more likely you may be to experience co-existing morbidities, physical functioning problems, and increased risk of coronary heart disease.
